Travel Journal: Manyamula Village

The next leg of our journey was three days in a village, staying with one of Spirit in Action's partners. It was a really amazing experience. I wrote about some of our cultural experiences in Manyamula Village for my work blog. Click here for the story and pictures.

On a side note, the journey from Nktata Bay to Manyamula was also an adventure reminiscent of our past bus rides in Malawi. Two moments stand out:

  • A man offered to take us in a personal taxi the 100km to the village. We thought he was charging us $14 but (luckily) before we left he clarified that he actually wanted $140! No thanks.
  • We ended up taking a bus that broke down half-way through the drive. Luckily (again), Boyd's handy dandy Leatherman tool helped them tighten the axel, or whatever they did, so that we could get back on the road!
